Where We’ve Been Hiding!

A first peek at some of the footage from our trip to South Africa. Such a magical time. We traveled to a variety of awesome locations; The Kruger National Park, the small fishing town of Dullstroom, St Lucia along the Indian Ocean, Cathedral Peaks in the Central Drakensburg and finally the town of Clarens that I hope to someday call home (at least

A Wildlife Adventure

What an incredible weekend! In all honesty before I even begin to go into details about all the incredible fun I had I need to give a shout out to my incredible hubby! I don’t know if it was the full moon, my busy work schedule lately, the proximity of my birthday or some other cosmic forces, but my weekend started with a

North Country Trail

Spring is in the air! Its a great time for us locals to get out and enjoy the nooks and crannies that will soon be chock full of tourists. This afternoon we had this glorious portion of the North Country Trail all to ourselves. The dogs had a blast! Such a joy to watch them. Rather than complain about the slippery spots, the

A Winter Run at the Ranch

What a wonderful afternoon to spend some time outdoors with the pups! Spring is in the air. The songbirds are returning and the temperatures are slowly rising. It made for a wonderful day to visit the hunting property and let the muppets take a run. They have been cramped up so long they took full advantage of the freedom! Leo actually too

A Weekend with Blaine Carter

We had an opportunity last weekend to join in a two day seminar with Blaine Carter of Merrymeeting Kennels hosted by the Southeast Michigan NAVHDA. What an incredible learning opportunity! And of course it was spent with a group of beautiful dogs. It was like the perfect storm for me. Learning, dogs and photography. My ultimate trifecta! Anyone training a versatile hunting dog

These are the shots left after culling several times. It was a wonderful evening! My first few years in Michigan I

A Bird in the Hand

Right now our life revolves around training, training, training... Training a bird dog includes doing so many things I never dreamed I would be capable of. For Leo I would do nearly anything! When training a bird dog, well there has to be a bird, right? The whole bird thing is very very hard for me. I wish there was an easier way.

The Multi-Dog Shoot

A three dog shoot is always a challenge One or two dogs, easy peasy... Three or more takes a ton of patients and goes much better with a well trained assistant on board. Since I don't have the Monks of New Skeet or Ceasar Millan on speed dial I need to find some other way to make multi dog shoots go as smoothly

Joyous Adventure

There are so many things that we can learn from dogs. In so many ways they are much better at living life than we are. Since I live with three of these incredible critters I feel that I need to honor the lessons that the provide by sharing my experiences with my babies. Today's lesson is one of the most obvious. Be present. Enjoy
