Where is winter this year? Shooting in less than ideal conditions.

The pups and I are all anxiously awaiting winter. Until then we do the best we can to appreciate the winter we have been given…  This afternoon we went out to the property we use for hunting. In the absence of beautiful, fluffy, pure snowfall on the ground I decided to forgo my normal outdoor lenses and instead shoot with what I normally consider my studio lens. Without the clear monotone winter background I needed a way to drop the background, to make it disappear so to speak….

This afternoon I grabbed my fastest lens, my 50 prime. These are the results. It was a great day for photos.

When life gives us lemons we need to make lemonade. I may be looking forward to some typical winter conditions for some wonderful winter shooting, but today was a great reminder that when we look beyond expectations we can rise above. By pushing forward when we are feeling less inspired we can find more strength than expected.

There is beauty everywhere. Get out and find it!
