So, the cat house. To be honest, I was a little intimidated at the thought. Living in a home with three dogs I have become pretty in tune with reading puppy cues. For the most part pups are pleasers. They want to make us humans happy. Cats, they tend to come at life from a different direction. When working with cats you have to remember that you are there to please them. Not the other way round…

There was a quote on the wall in the cat visiting room at the Muskegon Humane Society. It pretty much sums up what to expect when working with cats.

In ancient times cats were worshipped as gods; they have not forgotten this

With all of this in mind, I entered the cat house not sure of what to expect. As is generally the case, my worries were unfounded. In some ways the cats were easier to work with than the dogs. When a pup comes out of the crate they are so excited and grateful it takes time for them to calm and relax. A cat’s attitude does not have that visible change. They inhabit the larger space in the same relaxed worship me manner they do their smaller enclosure.

Being that I am predominately a dog person I was surprised at how easily these fur balls pulled on my heartstrings! Leo & Tess may end up with a new friend one of these days 😽
